About Us

Samatha Society for Rural Education and Development

We ensure to improve the socio-economic condition of the target communities through programs like skill development, women and child empowerment, and agricultural management practices.

Founded in 1987, SAMATHA is a grass roots non-profit organization dedicated to promote sustainable development among marginalized communities residing in the drought prone and ecologically vulnerable Sri Satya Sai , Ananthapuramu and Nandyal districts of Andhra Pradesh, India .

During the fiscal year 2023–24, the SAMATHA expanded its working scope by including 15 villages across 5 more mandals . At present, the SAMATHA is working with 45 villages in three districts of Andhra Pradesh, India.

The SAMATHA develops and implements diverse thematic programmes and initiatives, with a central focus on community participation and ownership. A key focus area during this period was natural resources management (NRM), women and child empowerment, agricultural management practices, skill-based training and exposure visits to learn and implement best practices to improve target communities socio-economic development. A key focus area during this period was livelihood support , with 1023 individuals, including women agricultural labourers and people with disabilities, availing of 6200000/- , primarily to enhance their livelihoods . Additionally, the beneficiaries contributed Rs. 310000/-.

Organization information
The administrative team works on administrative and support functions. It managed to fund raising, ,financial management , planning , monitoring and evaluations , communication , legal compliance, facilities and hospitality. The administrative group insured the timely completion of the SAMATHA regulatory and compliance requirements. The core group (field-related group), consisting of the programmer coordinators, programmer managers , CEOS and programmer associates, convened a monthly plan and reviewed programmer activities and expenditures. The SAMATHA’s senior leadership or management team met monthly, implemented internal policies, discussed operational matters , and addressed women's resource issues. The SAMATHA’s senior leadership also held several meetings to revise the SAMATHA’s vision and mission statement.

Programs

Women Empowerment

Every month, we conduct formal meetings with Cherlopalli and Kondampalli village women. Here we discuss the formation of SHGs, livestock purchase, maintenance of animals, etc.

Agricultural Support

A field day is an exciting outdoor event held in many schools across the country. We conducted Field Day-Awareness on Farm Ponds in Settipalli Village.

Child Friendly Community Through Education and Empowerment

We conduct education and empowerment sessions aimed at cultivating a community committed to safeguarding child rights and fostering a zero-tolerance stance towards violations. Our efforts ensure that children and their parents are well-informed about their rights and social welfare entitlements. Additionally, we work to bridge educational gaps and improve learning outcomes while promoting participatory governance through the Bal Panchayat. This approach not only upholds children’s rights but also supports their self-confidence and personality development, creating a more informed, engaged, and empowered society.

SAMATHA CSR INTERVENTION ON CHILD FRIENDLY VILLAGE THROUGH EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT CHINTALAYAPALLI VILLAGE, KOLIMIGUNDLA MANDAL, NANDYAL DISTRICT

Assistive Education giving to 272 Children in Mining Village and also giving vocational trainings to the dropouts children under age group of 14 to 18 years. Through this programme 320 families benefited and as impact of this programme now their is no dropouts in the village and school children grading of marks improved.

Access to Justice for Children & Just Rights for Children

Child Marriage free India and Child Marriage free Sri Satya Sai and Annamayya Districts of Andhra Pradesh State (Under this programme main objective is to prevent child marriages by 2030 and Eradicate the Child Labour and Child Trafficking. SAMATHA implementing this programme in both Annamayya and Sri Satya Sai Districts of Andhra Pradesh State)

Shelter for Urban Homeless, Penukonda Nagara Panchayat

SAMATHA NGO maintaining the Shelter for Urban Homeless, Penukonda Nagara Panchayat (An individual who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence or those who, on a specific, purpose attend towns and cities and remain shelter-less e.g., street children and street adults, destitute, single unprotected child especially girls and rag-pickers.)

Animal Health Camp

The basic objectives of conducting the camp are to gain an understanding of the general livestock health status, management practices, and prevalent diseases/problems in the area so that livestock-related interventions can be taken up systematically. We organize an animal health camp every year with the help of a veterinary assistant surgeon, a scientist (LPM), and other veterinary department personnel.
